河南农业大学创办于1912年，是河南省唯一一所综合性农业大学。2009年11月成为全国第一所省部共建省属农业大学。
学校学科覆盖农、工、理、经、管、法、文、医、教等9大门类，设有20个学院。他们是农学院、林学院、园艺学院、牧医工程学院、机电工程学院、生命科学学院、烟草学院、植物保护学院、外国语学院、理学院、国际教育学院等，拥有3个一级、二级国家级重点学科，34个省部级重点学科，6个博士后科研流动站，1个一级博士学位授权学科，17个博士点，63个硕士点，54个本科专业。建有国家小麦工程技术研究中心、国家玉米改良(郑州)分中心、国家烟草栽培生理生化研究基地等24个国家级、省部级研究中心和重点实验室。学校师资力量雄厚，现有教职工1700多人，其中双聘院士9人，教授、副教授400多人，国家“百千万人才工程”第一、二层次专家3人，获国家“中华农业英才奖”专家、国家有突出贡献的中青年专家4人，享受国务院特殊津贴37人，国家骨干教师2人，省特聘教授5人，省管优秀专家34人，省创新人才7人，省学术技术带头人29人，省骨干教师60人。
学校充分发挥人才、科技、教育资源优势，致力于服务地方经济社会建设。主持有“粮食丰产科技工程”、863项目等一批国家级、省部级重大项目300多项，获得国家科技进步奖、国家技术发明奖等省部级以上奖励200多项。
学校积极开展国际交流与合作，与美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰、日本、英国、荷兰等40多个国家的70多所高校、科研机构、企业开展有技术合作或学术交流。
Henan Agricultural University(HAU) was founded in 1912. It is the only one comprehensive agricultural university
in Henan Province. In November of 2009, it became the first provincial university
of Province and Ministry co- constructing.
HAU now is a comprehensive university with nine branches of learning: agronomy,
medicine, science, engineering, arts, economics, management, law and education.
The academic work of HAU is organized into 20 colleges which are College of Agronomy,
College of Forestry, College of Horticulture, College of Animal Husbandry &
Veterinary Science, College of Mechanical & Electronic Engineering,
College of Economics & Management, College of Plant Protection,
College of Life Science, College of Tobacco Science ,
College of Foreign Language, College of International Education etc. At present,
HAU has 3 national key discipline of first class and second-class, 34 key provincial and ministerial disciplines, and there are 6 post-doctoral research centers, 1 first-class discipline authorized to confer doctor’s degree, 17 specialties for Doctoral candidates, 63 specialties for Master candidates
and 56 specialties for undergraduates. The University owns 24 national or provincial
research centers, key laboratories and bases such as National Engineering Research
Center for Wheat, Zhengzhou Sub-center of National Maize Improvement, National Key Laboratory of Tobacco Cultivation &
Physiology & Biochemistry Research Center, etc.
HAU has a dedicated faculty of more than 1700 full-time members, including 9 academicians, over 400 professors and associate professors.
Of this number, 3 experts have been selected into the country’s Hundred Thousand-10 Thousand-Talents project, 4 awarded National Outstanding Agricultural Youth Talent, 3 middle-aged and young experts awarded for having made prominent contribution to the country,
39 scholars enjoys special allowance from the State Council, 2 are state-level leading experts, 34 are provincial level outstanding experts, 113 are candidates for
Henan Senior Scholars in various academic fields and 49 are provincial level leading experts.
Fully taking advantages of talents, science and technology, education resources,
HAU is dedicated to serve local economic and community development. In recent years,
HAU has actively joined in the construction of main grain production area in Henan province,
and runs over 300 national and ministerial key research projects, such as The Project of
Science &Technology for Grain Harvest, and China's 863 Project. It has received over 300
various awards at provincial or ministerial level,
HAU has established intercollegiate ties with universities in the United States of America,
Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, UK, The Netherlands and other countries.
The university has carried out research work with more than 70 universities,
research institutes and enterprises form 40 countries.
